Vietnam Traveling Wall

The Vietnam Brotherhood in Charlotte County, Florida worked for nearly four years to bring the Vietnam Traveling Wall during the week of Veterans Day to Laishley Park, Punta Gorda, FL .

The Punta Gorda Garden Club, along with the Port Charlotte Garden Club, were asked by the Vietnam Brotherhood to provide potted plants for the lectern area and statue display.  Along the Wall fresh cut roses were placed each day by club members.  The Vietnam Brotherhood is an association dedicated to helping one another and promoting the image of the Vietnam Veterans as productive members of society.

May Luncheon

The annual Spring Luncheon of the Club was held May 12, 2010. This year’s luncheon celebrated the anniversary of the 60th year as a member of Florida Federated Garden Clubs and honored past presidents.  In attendance were presidents who served from 1968 to 2008.  A special guest was Wilena Hindman who was a founding member of the Club in 1949. The string ensemble of the Good Shepherd Day School provided entertainment.
